Premier of Nunavut : ウィキペディア英語版 | Premier of Nunavut
The Premier of Nunavut is the first minister for the Canadian territory of Nunavut. They are the territory's head of government and ''de facto'' chief executive, although their powers are considerably smaller than that of a provincial premier. Unlike most other premiers who are officially appointed by a Lieutenant-Governor or Commissioner on account of their leadership of a majority bloc in the legislature, the premier of Nunavut (and the cabinet) is directly elected by the non-partisan members of the Legislative Assembly, in accordance with the system of consensus government, and then appointed by the Commissioner of Nunavut.〔(Legislative Assembly of Nunavut Frequently Asked Questions )〕〔(The Role of the Commissioner of Nunavut )〕 ==Premiers== There have been three premiers of Nunavut. The first premier of Nunavut was Paul Okalik,〔(Canadian Politics, Riding by Riding: An In-Depth Analysis of Canada's 301 Federal Electoral Districts ) by Tony L. Hill〕 who entered office on April 1, 1999. The second premier of Nunavut is Eva Aariak, who was selected on November 14, 2008.〔("Nunavut names new premier" ), ''The Globe and Mail'', November 14, 2008.〕 The current premier is Peter Taptuna, since November 15, 2013.〔(MLAs choose Peter Taptuna to serve as Nunavut premier )〕
